Following another stellar 2026 for Manchester City and particularly Norway at the FIFA World Cup in North America, Erling Haaland has been recognised at the 2026 Ballon d'Or awards - his sixth nomination for the main Men's award at the ceremony to date.

Elsewhere, following his performances for Manchester City and Spain, as well as Barcelona having joined the La Liga giants during the summer transfer window, Rodri was also nominated for the award following his previous success in winning the prize in 2024.

And in recognition of football's younger talents, City's summer recruit from LOSC Lille and a star of the Moroccan national team, Ayyoub Bouaddi, also saw his name placed amongst the very best rising stars in world football.

Now, with the showpiece ceremony taking place in London on Monday night, all three players associated with Manchester City over the last 12 months have found out their fate for their respective awards.

Why Erling Haaland was nominated

Across the course of the 2025/26 club campaign, Erling Haaland recorded a staggering haul of 52 goals with a further nine assists - with 27 of those goals coming in the Premier League alone en route to yet another Golden Boot award in the competition.

As part of that haul in front of goal, Erling Haaland was once again instrumental in bringing silverware to the Etihad Stadium, winning both the Carabao Cup ahead of Arsenal and FA Cup ahead of Chelsea during Pep Guardiola's final season at the club.

Heading over to North America for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Haaland was thrust to the very pinnacle of global football audiences, making a staggering impact for Norway by scoring seven times en route to the quarter-finals for the first time in the country's history.

Rodri's latest Ballon d'Or nomination detailed

Bringing an end to a truly legendary Manchester City career by joining FC Barcelona earlier this summer, Rodri's final year of seven at the Etihad Stadium has once again been recognised.

The Spain international captain was not only a big part of the City squad that won both domestic cups last season, but also went on to star at the FIFA World Cup and lift the major tournament's trophy for his country after victory over Argentina in the Final.

What about Ayyoub Bouaddi and the Kopa Trophy?

Manchester City and Moroccan international Ayyoub Bouaddi has seen his starring performances over the last 12 months recognised by the Ballon d'Or awards.

The teenager has made a stellar start to life at the Etihad Stadium too, making appearances for the club in the Premier League, Carabao Cup, and Champions League, with particularly impressive showings coming away to FC Porto and at home to Paris Saint-Germain.

Such has been the level of performance shown by the teenager so far this season that many City fans have been calling for Bouaddi to become a regular starter for Enzo Maresca across competitions, despite the club and men's first-team coaching staff opting for patience around their €100 million man.
