Arsenal boss promotes two Nigeria-eligible teenagers to first team training pre-Fleetwood
Teenage Nigeria-eligible players Andre Harriman-Annous and Ife Ibrahim joined Arsenal's first-team training session ahead of Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Fleetwood, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Both players were pictured taking part in the full training session with the senior squad, despite Arsenal’s U21s also preparing for their final EFL Trophy group game against AFC Wimbledon.
Their involvement in first-team training further suggests that the youngsters could be in contention to feature against Fleetwood at Highbury, as Arsenal aim to secure a place in the fifth round of the Carabao Cup.
The duo, who are key figures in the youth setup, have already made senior appearances for the Gunners, earning opportunities as a reward for their development at the Hale End Academy.
Harriman-Annous has continued his impressive form for Arsenal’s youth team, scoring four goals in ten appearances across all competitions this season.
However, the 18-year-old forward is yet to feature for the senior side this campaign, despite having made two first-team appearances in previous seasons.
The young striker will be hoping to impress Mikel Arteta during the training session and boost his chances of earning a place in the squad for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Fleetwood.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim has recorded one assist in ten appearances across all competitions for the Arsenal teams this season.
The midfielder has also made two career appearances for Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League and the Carabao Cup.
Unlike Harriman-Annous, Ibrahim has already featured for the first team this campaign, coming on in the closing minutes of Arsenal’s 4-2 victory over Ipswich to secure progression to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
