Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi has broken his nose and will require a protective mask to play for the time being, according to the Sun.
The Gunners star featured against Everton at Emirates Stadium on Saturday after Mikel Arteta brought him on in the second-half.
Zubimendi was caught in the face by Everton striker Thierno Barry during a duel, forcing him to leave the pitch for treatment as blood was pouring from his nose.
The Arsenal midfielder finished the match with tissue shoved up his right nostril and will now have to wear a protective mask to shield his nose.
The North London club return to action tomorrow, when they take on Fleetwood Town in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Zubimendi had been expected to start the game having seen limited playing opportunities this season.
His broken nose is now a big blow as starting him on Tuesday could be a risk.
The 27-year-old has yet to start a Premier League or Champions League game this season having fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes.
He started against Ipswich Town in the last round of the competition last month and will be desperate to return to the line-up tomorrow.
Arsenal need their players to be constantly fit for the season as Arteta needs quality squad depth to challenge strongly across all competitions.
They return to league action on Sunday, when they take on Liverpool at Anfield, and a win will be a huge statement of intent.
