Harrison Butker has been a lousy kicker since going on his misogynistic, homophobic rant

Seeing Kansas City kicker Harrison Butker miss a field goal wide right against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night was a certain kind of poetic justice for an athlete whose bigoted commencement speech two years ago made him a national story. The miss — one of two on the night — also cemented this fact: He’s been the worst kicker in the NFL the past two seasons.

“Harrison Butker’s 15 missed kicks (10 FGs, 5 PATs) since start of last season are the most in NFL,” the AP’s Josh Dubow posted on X. In 2026, among kickers with at least 16 field goal attempts, Butker’s 68.8% success rate is the worst (tied with Green Bay’s Trey Smack). This in a league where 10 kickers have been perfect on their field goal attempts.

##### Harrison Butker attacks Pride month and trans people, tells women to get back in the kitchen

Kansas City Chiefs player Harrison Butker seems to want America to return to the 1950s when gays hid in shame and women served men.

Most disturbing is Butker’s 2-for-6 rate at field goals longer than 50 yards. He gave his speech in the spring of 2024. In the two seasons and six games since, he is 9 for 19 (47%) from beyond 50 yards, compared to 15-21 (71%) in the three seasons prior. In simple terms, he is becoming a liability, forcing the Chiefs to think about offense differently in the absence of a reliable long-range kicker.

I am loving every moment of it.

Butker’s speech, in which he slammed gay and trans people and told women to literally get back in the kitchen, became a national talking point in 2024. In the speech at Benedictine College in Kansas, he condemned Pride Month and “dangerous gender ideologies.” His comments on women drew the biggest reaction for how retrograde they were:

He also took a large chunk of his speech to speak directly to the women in the audience. He said that while many of them likely are excited to start a career and get promotions, they should instead consider the only vocation that will make them most happy: homemaker.

“I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and a mother. I’m on this stage, and able to be the man I am, because I have a wife who leans into her vocation.

“I’m beyond blessed with the many talents god has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.”

Many on social media were reveling in Butker’s misses, which were a crucial part of a tight game won by Seattle 20-3. His fourth-quarter miss from 45 yards prevented the Chiefs from cutting a 13-3 lead to 13-6. ESPN’s Mina Kimes came off the top rope following one of the misses. “Might be time to go home and be a family man,” she wrote.

The reaction was similar across social media. This appropriately snarky X post has been seen more than 400,000 times with 38,000 likes. “A woman just graduated with her doctorate degree,” it said.

The gloating is well-deserved. Butker was unapologetic about his views and endorsed the GOP presidential ticket in 2024, showing his clear partisan leanings. People now cheering his every miss are enjoying every minute. Schadenfreude is a beautiful thing.
