“They’re Going to Want to Replace Me”: Terry Bradshaw Puts Fox in Difficult Position With Firm…

Pittsburgh Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw has been with FOX for over three decades. Bradshaw said back in 2008 that he would retire by 2011, and he is still on the desk 18 years later. As co-host Curt Menefee once joked, they’ll have to carry him out in a hearse before he finally calls it a day.

NFL legendary quarterback and Fox NFL analyst and co-host Terry Bradshaw sipped some bourbon, cracked many jokes and greeted fans during Family Cookin’ with Chef Noah Hester at the Fork & Flask stage on the first day of Bourbon & Beyond Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025.

Terry Bradshaw’s Stance on Retiring From Broadcasting Leaves Fox in a Tough Spot

Growing calls for Bradshaw to retire follow years of on-air slip-ups, including blaming Curt Menefee for a spill and blanking on National Tight Ends Day with Gronk. However, he has said he will not announce his retirement and expects FOX may eventually replace him.

In an interview with Men’s Health about his new memoir, the Steelers icon told the magazine that he has no plans to announce his retirement; FOX will have to decide when to replace him.

“I think I’m going through now what everybody that’s in their 70s goes through. I’m 78. I just signed a two-year extension, and I’m pretty sure no matter how well I perform over the next two years, they’re going to want to replace me,” Bradshaw told Men’sHealth. “I’m not going to announce my retirement, because in two years when we do the Super Bowl, after my contract is expiring, I don’t want anybody to do a tribute. So I’m never going to say I’m going to retire. Because, look, they may say, ‘Hey, you’re still doing a good job. We’ll sign you for another year.’ That could easily happen. They’re pissing into the wind if they think I’m gonna tell them I’m retiring”.

On Fox NFL Sunday, he questioned the Dallas Cowboys’ focus because they celebrated exaggeratedly in the locker room after Dak Prescott broke the franchise career passing touchdown record. The 33-year-old quarterback achieved this during a 37-20 Week 2 win over the Washington Commanders on September 20, throwing four touchdowns to reach 249 career passing scores and beat Tony Romo’s record of 248.

“I’m not going to lie to you guys, I’m a Jerry Jones fan, always have been,” Bradshaw said. “But you know what upset me? A couple of weeks ago, I saw when Dak Prescott broke the touchdown passing record for the Cowboys and went into the locker room and the whole place was screaming and hollering.”

“I said, ‘Howie, isn’t that a little strange? Michael, isn’t that a little strange? We’re celebrating that other than championships. Look, you celebrate passing touchdowns when it’s all said and done, not during a season.’ So that leads me to believe that their focus isn’t where it should be.”

Ever since then, the Cowboys went 1-3 and have their backs against the wall. After two losses, 29 points, and four picks from Prescott, the Cowboys will face the Eagles at 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday. Bradshaw gave them a warning, “So Dak Prescott, no more interceptions down the field. You cannot lose to the Philadelphia Eagles because you’ve got to go home and play Arizona.”

At 78, NFL analyst Terry Bradshaw has signed a two-year extension with FOX Sports, which is expected to keep him on the show through the network’s broadcast of Super Bowl LXIII in 2029.
