Liverpool face another demanding week following their clash with Brighton, with fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal awaiting Andoni Iraola’s side.
The upcoming games will test the squad’s quality and depth, while giving the head coach a clearer picture of where improvements are needed ahead of future transfer windows.
As Iraola continues to assess his players’ strengths and weaknesses, Liverpool’s recruitment team will also be working to identify potential targets, with the January window now just over two months away.
Alexis Mac Allister has reportedly emerged as a potential target for Real Madrid as they plan a midfield overhaul. According to Sky Germany, Mac Allister is high on Real Madrid’s wish list.
Jose Mourinho is keen on a potential transfer. The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss is said to value the Argentine’s physical presence and tackling ability.
At Real Madrid, Aurelien Tchouameni, Bernardo Silva, Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Guler and Federico Valverde compete for places in central midfield.
However, Valverde is often required to cover at right-back, while Los Blancos have struggled to establish a consistent midfield leader in recent years.
Alexis Mac Allister remains under contract with Liverpool until 2028 and is regarded as one of the club’s most important players.
Any potential deal would therefore likely face significant financial hurdles and resistance from the Reds. At Real Madrid, the 27-year-old could immediately take on a leadership role.
Real Madrid could see an opportunity to sign Mac Allister in the future. Sky Germany also reported that, Liverpool currently have no concrete plans to extend his contract early, prompting the Spanish giants to monitor his situation closely.
Mac Allister was also linked with a move to Manchester City during the summer transfer window. The World Cup winner has made 162 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 23 goals and providing 21 assists.
This season, the former Brighton star has racked up 12 appearances, scored four times and provided one assist for Liverpool in all competitions.
The Argentina midfielder played a key role in Liverpool’s 2024/25 Premier League title triumph, having also helped the Reds lift the Carabao Cup the previous season.
