Coach Nick Sirianni's Philadelphia Eagles welcomed the Dallas Cowboys to Lincoln Financial Field in Philly for a Week 8 game that included good news on Saquon Barkley's injury status. The Eagles and their fans gave Jason Kelce a hero's welcome as backup QB Tanner McKee prepared to lead his team.

McKee uncorked a fired-up pregame speech that showed off his leadership skills as he compared his teammates to a “bunch of dogs,” in the best possible way, ahead of the Monday night showdown.

McKee looked to become the second backup quarterback to beat Dallas in three games after the Buccaneers' Jalon Daniels did it back in Week 5 with Baker Mayfield sidelined due to injury.

The Cowboys got on the board first on a Brandon Aubrey 55-yard field goal to make it 3-0. McKee led his Eagles on a drive that culminated in an eight-yard Barkley touchdown run, giving Philly fans reason to smile again. Dallas roared back behind its explosive passing game as Dak Prescott found star wideout CeeDee Lamb on a nine-yard touchdown pass that included an Aubrey extra point.

McKee and the Eagles appeared to take his words to heart as they responded with another strong drive into Cowboys territory as the first half came to a close. McKee got two pass-catchers back for the game, and offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's plan began working as the rivalry matchup began to heat up.

McKee isn't on the same level as Jalen Hurts as far as fans can see, but he has shown himself to be a leader of men and a competent NFL QB. Fans hoped for more good news as the Eagles continued to battle back on an exciting night of NFL action.
