Saquon Barkley finally helped the Philadelphia Eagles end a stunning first-quarter drought following his touchdown in their primetime clash against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.
Barkley has been playing in the NFL since 2018, going through his third season with the Eagles. When healthy, he shines as one of the best running backs in the league, helping Philadelphia win Super Bowl 59 in 2024.
However, injuries have impacted Philadelphia's trajectory this season. Jalen Hurts is out for the season with blood clots, while Barkley missed several games due to his hamstring injury.
Barkley returned to the fold on Monday night, attempting to help Philadelphia get back on track amid a difficult start to the season. The offense was unable to get any touchdowns in the first quarter six games into the season, but Barkley ended that drought by scoring the touchdown in the opening drive of the game against Dallas.
“Eagles 1st drive with QB Tanner McKee vs. Dallas: 4 plays. 4 first downs. First 1st quarter TD of the year. First opening drive points of the year,” reporter Jeff Kolb wrote.
