October 27 – Chelsea have signed a multi-year deal with financial technology company Sokin, which becomes a principal partner and the club’s official business payments and foreign exchange partner.
The agreement covers the men’s and women’s teams, and Sokin’s logo will appear on the sleeves of home, away and third shirts for the senior sides and academy. It made its debut when the men lost to Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Sokin, like Chelsea, is based in London. Its platform processes more than $11 billion in business payments a year for organisations in over 170 countries, offering payments, multi-currency accounts, foreign exchange, checkout and treasury management in one place.
Chelsea pay and receive money in multiple currencies every day, through international partners, European and global competitions, and commercial income from supporters around the world. Sokin will help the club send, receive and manage those funds.
“At Chelsea, we seek to partner with organisations that share our ambition and innovative mindset,” said club president Jason Gannon. “Sokin’s expertise in business payments, and their focus on making both simpler for the businesses they serve, makes them a natural fit for the club. We are pleased to welcome Sokin to the Chelsea family and look forward to working together in the years ahead.”
The deal also reflects a trend across the Premier League this autumn, with clubs signing payments and FX providers that offer both sponsorship income and a service the business actually uses. Newcastle announced a similar agreement with Corpay Cross-Border last week.
