That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that potential buyers could be put off by TFG's £1bn valuation.
After coming aboard in December 2024, the Toffees' owners had initially put feelers out for new investment at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but that quickly changed.
While Borson has no issue with the Merseyside club being valued at £1bn, he does believe that it could be what stumps a few potential buyers.
'The Friedkins could have done better at Everton'
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has stated that potential buyers may feel that TFG could have done better to increase the club's value.
"Anybody that has previously indicated an interest will be revisited. When the Friedkins bought it, anybody who was the underbidder, they'll reach out to that potential buyer," he said.
"Clearly, the more due diligence they did last time, the better because it will give them a huge advantage in understanding the opportunity and speeding up the process.
"So that'll be beneficial. I think the problem that they might have is a lot of the work that the Friedkins have done in tidying up the proposition.
"Other bidders might think that they may not value it as fully as the Friedkins do, so they may feel as though they could have done the same job.
"Or they feel they could have done better in terms of the refinancing or whatever it is."
When might Everton be bought by new owners?
TFG will be well aware that selling Everton is not going to be a quick process, with the owners ready to keep the club going for the time being.
Borson has already told Football Insider that the sale process could take as long as six months, and that's after a buyer has actually been found.
But any fans wanting further investment in the January window will be desperately let down, given the owners' current situation.
