Liverpool are interested in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, but Chelsea are growing “increasingly confident” of signing him in January, according to Ben Jacobs.
Scott is Chelsea’s top target after Enzo Fernandez left for Manchester City on deadline day in the summer.
Chelsea made multiple offers for the 23-year-old, including one worth £64m, but Bournemouth rejected them all.
Xabi Alonso’s side are now reportedly in fresh talks. Bournemouth want more than £100m and would only sell in January if they received an offer above that figure.
Liverpool are also interested in Scott but have less urgency to add a midfielder in January. Head coach Andoni Iraola previously worked with Scott at Bournemouth.
Scott is not the only midfielder Liverpool are considering. Jacobs says the club also admire Monaco’s Lamine Camara and Roma’s Manu Kone.
Camara was reportedly set to join Chelsea on deadline day for €55m (£47m), but Monaco pulled out of the agreement shortly after the transfer deadline passed.
Jacobs says Liverpool subsequently told Camara’s representatives that he would be high on their list of targets for 2027 if he stayed. Monaco’s asking price has since reportedly risen to £60m.
Kone, 25, was also linked with Chelsea on deadline day but remained at Roma. Reports suggested that manager Gian Piero Gasperini blocked a sale, while Roma sporting director Tony D’Amico said Chelsea never submitted an official bid.
Jacobs says both Kone and Camara have admirers within Liverpool’s hierarchy.
Liverpool’s search for a midfielder also reflects Alexis Mac Allister’s situation. Jacobs says the club do not intend to offer him a new contract as things stand and will look to sign at least one midfielder in 2027.
Bournemouth’s stance on Alex Scott has shifted. Earlier this month, Jacobs said the club still intended to keep him until the end of the season and that its £80m summer valuation was a starting point for negotiations.

Liverpool also hold an interest in Scott, but have less urgency to add a midfielder in January. Monaco’s Lamine Camara, who Chelsea failed to sign on deadline day, and Roma’s Manu Kone are two other targets.🍒
