TFG completed their takeover of Everton in December 2024, and their rein has been a quick, yet fairly tumultuous one.

The move to Hill Dickinson Stadium has been a big success, with the Toffees now calling one of Europe's most impressive arenas their new home.

Results on the pitch have improved slightly during their time on Merseyside, but the mission of delivering European football has evaded them.

With the Toffees now up for sale, the football club heads towards an uncertain but potentially exciting future under new ownership.

But whoever does eventually take the reigns will be under serious pressure to invest in the playing squad, immediately.

What Duncan Ferguson has said about Everton takeover situation?

One of the big reasons for the disconnect between Everton fans and TFG has been birthed out of their transfer policies.

The ending to this summer's transfer window angered many supporters, both on the incoming and outgoing fronts.

TFG were forced to go back on their intent to sell Harrison Armstrong to Nottingham Forest after the proposed move was protested by fans.

On top of that, the decisions to sell the likes of Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye and Beto in the final hours of the window were met with huge frustration.

Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside, Ferguson has warned any potential new owners how much they'd need to invest in the transfer market.

"The new owners will be coming in. The old owners (TFG) have took it as far as I think they think they're going to take it," the Everton icon said.

"They'll sell the club. I think they're looking for about £800million.

"Somebody else comes in and needs to spend probably another £400m on the squad.

"I don't even know if they're capable of doing that because of the fair play (SCR and new financial rules)."

But what does Ferguson think of the job Moyes is doing at Everton, and does he feel TFG have backed him enough?

What Ferguson thinks Moyes must keep doing in the market at Everton

After being out of the management game for the last two years following his exit from Inverness, Ferguson is back in the dugout.

Last week saw him appointed as the new manager of Northern Irish side Glentoran, who play in the NIFL Premiership.

So, the 54-year-old is now speaking on Moyes' situation as a fellow gaffer himself, and he thinks the Toffees boss is performing admirably under the circumstances.

"He's done well, hasn't he? With not a lot of resources," the former striker continued.

"You need resources. You need finance. It doesn't matter how good of a manager you are, it's down to your players that are on the pitch.

"I think David Moyes has done very well with what he's got there. He's been left a bit short, and he's making do...

"I think David's quite cute in the transfer market, or he certainly has been in the past, and he needs to keep on discovering those uncut diamonds."

Of course, £400m simply isn't possible in one window for clubs like Everton, so this is a long-term rebuild that's needed.

It shows just how big of a job it will be, though, one that the Friedkins simply couldn't swallow.
