The Dallas Cowboys got their mojo back on Monday Night Football. Dallas defeated a wounded Philadelphia squad 38-21 thanks to an offensive explosion from their skill position stars. Just taking a quick look at the box score shows just how dominant the Cowboys were against the Eagles.
ESPN's Todd Archer shared multiple stats to contextualize how dominant Dallas played in Week 7.
The Cowboys ran 65 plays on Monday night and did not have one play lose yards. According to ESPN Research, that is the most plays the Cowboys have had in a game without a negative play since 2015. In that game, they ran 69 plays without losing yards in a loss against the Giants.
ESPN Research also noted that this was the first time the Cowboys had more than 200 yards rushing and passing against the Eagles since 1983.
Javonte Williams was the biggest surprise of the game. Williams had a sensational night running the ball, racking up 155 rushing yards and a touchdown. His consistency gave the passing attack time to get going. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens combined for three touchdowns.
Javonte was proud of delivering a good performance for head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
“It was good to give Schotty the confidence to keep calling the runs,” Williams said after the game, per Archer. “He made a big emphasis on that this week.”
QB Dak Prescott praised his running back for the fantastic outing after the game.
“He's a guy you got to get in a groove and I think that's probably one of the frustrating things for him the last couple of weeks,” Prescott said. “He's not getting that chance again and again to get in that groove or to turn some of those 2- yard runs into 6-yard runs and so on. And tonight he had that chance and when you follow that offensive line, trust them, trust those blocks, that's the production you want to get.”
It will be exciting to see if Dallas can maintain this momentum into their next game.
Next up for the Cowboys is a Week 8 matchup against the Cardinals.
