Andoni Iraola 'always telling' Alexander Isak same point to become even better

Alexander Isak has been in good form for Liverpool so far under Andoni Iraola, with the Spaniard hoping to see even more from the Swedish striker in the coming months

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola is hopeful that Alexander Isak can continue his strong form at the start of the new season, with the Swede now having netted six goals in seven Premier League appearances.

Isak has been the matchwinner three times so far under Iraola, and also scored last weekend to double the Reds' advantage against Brighton at Anfield. That was the first home win that Liverpool had had in the league in six months.

Facing Chelsea this midweek and then Arsenal on Sunday, Liverpool will be hoping that its run of four wins on the spin can carry on, with momentum beginning to build after a tepid start to the new campaign.

"I think Alex feels the trust of everyone," Iraola said ahead of his side taking on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

"Everyone trusts that if he moves into good positions, he will score goals. But I always tell him he has to help us so we can give you the chances, and I think he understands that necessity. I hope that can continue at the same level."

Isak has done little aside from scoring goals this season, though some of his link-up play was promising against Brighton last time out.

Alongside other big-money additions like Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola, that was the first time that the new-look Liverpool attack properly gelled together.

Cody Gakpo also played relatively well on that occasion, while there are others like Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz pushing for more minutes in those positions.

"I think the potential is super high, which is good because I think we can do much better as well so the ceiling is definitely high," Isak said in a recent interview with club media.

"(I just want to) try to be on the scoresheet for every game and try to make them count as important ones as well."

After taking on Chelsea and Arsenal this week, Liverpool travels to Fenerbahce and Crystal Palace before the November international break. It returns with a home game against Manchester United.

Liverpool.com says: Isak was doubted by far too many people after a tough first season. The only reason he didn't justify the price tag then was being unfit and injured.

Now back from a broken leg and having hit his stride, Isak is scoring every week, but it shouldn't be a shock. At Newcastle, he had already proven himself as an elite forward who was already used to the rigors of the Premier League.
