We now know that All Pro guard Quenton Nelson won’t be a member of the New York Giants.
The Indianapolis Colts are trading Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2027 3rd round pick and a 2028 5th round pick, [per reports](https://x.com/NFL/status/2115122115766809063?s=20).
Nelson, 30, is still one of the best guards in the NFL, however his age and the fact that he’s in the final year of a 4-year $80 million contract made him a likely trade candidate for a Colts team that seems to be entering a rebuilding phase. The Colts currently don’t have a first round pick, having traded it to the New York Jets for CB Sauce Gardner, and they could use all the draft picks they can get.
The Nelson’s name has been tossed around as a possible trade target for the Giants, but he isn’t the only Colts’ player who could interest the Giants.
If the Colts’ fire sale has truly started, the Giants might be interested in RB Jonathan Taylor, WR Alec Pierce, DT DeForest Buckner, or DT Grover Stewart.
The Giants don’t have much in the way of trade capital, with picks in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and two 6th round picks. The Giants may be in line to receive a compensatory 4th round pick, as well.
