The fantasy football season is almost at the halfway point, and there are some interesting decisions to be made. Included in that mix is the wide receiver position, and here are the rankings for Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season.
Teams facing a bye week make a difference. Guys like Malik Nabers, Chris Olave, and Nico Collins are off the board. But let’s see who rides at the top of the list.
Fantasy Football standouts
Nobody needs to be told about Jaxon Smith-Njigba. But just briefly, the Seahawks' standout has a very good matchup against the Bears. He’s the top dude. And just for fun, let’s look at his finishes this season: 7, 1, 1, 35, 8, 4, and 1. Man, that’s amazing consistency.
Another solid choice is Ja’Marr Chase of the Bengals. He draws the Titans this week at home. And here’s the thing about Chase: He hasn’t had that blowout week yet. He’s still looking for his first 100-yard game. This seems like a good place for him to reach that level.
Chase got upset at halftime of the 13-0 deficit against the Ravens. And he stepped up and did something about it. Chase said the team used the halftime anger for second-half success, according to a post on X by Mike Petraglia.
“I was pretty angry coming into halftime. I didn't like how we played,” Chase said. “You know what I'm saying? We had 15 plays, maybe two or three possessions, and it didn't go our way at all. We had opportunities to get the ball out our hands. Joe was getting too much pressure, and I came in here screaming, saying, ‘We got to somebody got to make a play for us, and somebody got to make a play.’ And I told our offense, we can't look at our defense the whole time. I've done it before, and I cried last time. But I didn't cry this time.”
Look for Bengals QB Joe Burrow to target Chase double-digit times. And Chase knows what to do with those targets.
Also, consider CeeDee Lamb. Quite simply, he eats on a weekly basis. The targets are coming. And the Cardinals won’t be able to do anything about it. Plus, the Cowboys are feeling themselves after the Eagles presented a 60-minute version of “No Mas,” according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram via Heavy.com.
“I think that’s pretty self-explanatory,” Lamb said. “Once we get going, I know for a fact that there’s not a pass defense in this league that can stop us.”
Another extremely solid pick this week is Puka Nacua. He gets the struggling Chargers this week at home. Yes, he has been banged up a little. But if he’s out there, he’s going to produce.
Other standouts
Zay Flowers has been very good when things go his way. And this should be a second straight week for him to cut loose. The Bills have been terrible in pass defense. They rank No. 31 in the NFL by allowing 285.8 yards per game.
Also, it looks like Lamar Jackson could be back for this important game. That makes life even better for Flowers. Of course, Flowers can make even more explosive plays if the defense has to worry about the Ravens’ ground game. Head coach Jesse Minter certainly knows that, according to thebanner.com.
“I’m certainly concerned about that,” Minter said of his team’s stagnant running game. “We [have] to search for those better answers and how people are playing us, continue to try to create continuity on our O-line with what we have going on. We certainly need to find a way to create plays in the run game where we can at least sustain some drives and do those types of things when a game’s going like that.”
Another good call is George Pickens. The Cowboys showed they can still support two receivers even when the ground game is percolating. Pickens may not get as many targets or catches, but his touchdown chances go way up. And that’s where to bank your fantasy hopes for the matchup against the Cardinals.
And Pickens isn't being quiet, according to a post on X by Nick Harris. That dialogue can bring more targets.
“Cowboys WR George Pickens on what he can do to be more involved in the offense: ‘Well, I’m doing what they tell me to do. So, do what they tell me to do.’
“On Schottenheimer saying he needs to block better: ‘I feel like if you narrow the comments down, you’re talking about the team. Most definitely, I feel like as a team, just keep improving.’ ”
Fantasy Football sleepers
Don’t sleep on AJ Browns. The Patriots’ WR1 isn’t done. Yes, he has been bad in his first two games since returning from injury. But it’s a matter of time before he puts up a big game. And playing at the Dolphins is a perfect spot.
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said he isn’t concerned, according to Audacy.com via NBC Sports.
“No, I don’t have any concern,” Vrabel said. “I thought that he dropped a few passes, and then the other night there was a contested catch that — I’ve seen him make those plays in the past, I’ve seen those plays get called for DPI, and I’ve seen those plays be good plays by the defense down the field. So, I don’t think anybody has to press here or anything else. I think we just have to get back into a rhythm offensively with the guys that we have.”
Another sleeper pick is DJ Moore, if he can get back on the field after missing two games, and most of another, with an injury. The Ravens’ defense just got torched by the Bengals, and Bills quarterback Josh Allen can do the same.
