The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the worst teams in football this season.
They’ve lost five games in a row, which is the NFL’s the second-longest losing streak … only behind the 0-6 Los Angeles Chargers.
Here’s their badness relative to the rest of the league in graph form:
And here’s some historical context for their ineptitude:
But, hey, there’s a silver lining here!
The Eagles being bad in 2026 means they can get a high pick in the 2027 NFL Draft order.
The Birds are currently set to pick at No. 6 overall in late April (full list of non-playoff teams via [Tankathon](https://www.tankathon.com/nfl)):
As you can see, they’re tied with six other teams for a 2-5 record. It’s their relatively easier strength of schedule tiebreaker keeping them towards the top of that group.
Howie Roseman’s draft results in recent years have understandably drawn criticism. But there’s reason to believe the Eagles could land some high-end talent if they’re picking high. They last did so when they had favorable selections in the 2021 NFL Draft after a bad 2020 season. They landed the likes of DeVonta Smith, Landon Dickerson, and Milton Williams in that class … along with making a trade down from No. 6 to land them a 2022 first-round pick from the Miami Dolphins.
The Eagles still have 10 games left this season, so, much can change … for better or for worse. The latter seems more likely right now. But that doesn’t mean the future can’t be bright.
