According to Italian journalist Niccolò Ceccarini, writing for TuttoMercatoWeb, Arsenal are among the Premier League clubs showing interest in Varela.

The report suggests that the Gunners are particularly interested in the Portuguese striker, who is also attracting attention from Napoli.

Varela joined Monza from Benfica during the summer transfer window for a fee of around €2.5 million.

The Italian club could now face a battle to keep hold of the 21-year-old if his impressive goalscoring form continues.

Napoli are reportedly considering a move for Varela ahead of the January transfer window, although convincing Monza to sell midway through the season could prove difficult.

Interestingly, Benfica retain the right to match any future offer for the striker, while the Portuguese giants are also entitled to 20% of the profit from a potential sale.

For Arsenal, Varela could represent an interesting option for the future as Mikel Arteta continues to assess potential attacking reinforcements.

However, there is currently no indication that the Gunners have submitted an offer or opened formal negotiations with Monza.
