Barcelona have reportedly been fined €602 after Atletico Madrid complained about the Catalans’ pursuit of Julian Alvarez in the summer transfer window.

Los Colchoneros filed a complaint with FIFA and the RFEF after being angered by a summer that saw Alvarez say he wanted to leave and Barcelona heavily linked with the Argentina international.

According to multiple reports, a sanction has now been decided which will see Barcelona handed a minimal fine.

Atletico’s complaint was based on rules which state “the club wishing to sign a professional footballer must communicate its intention in writing to the club to which the footballer is attached before starting negotiations with the footballer.”

FIFA are unable to rule on this case as they don’t have jurisdiction, according to Mundo Deportivo, meaning a symbolic fine will be issued and no further action taken.

Alvarez has since returned to the Atletico team and even apologized to fans for his behavior in the summer after scoring the winner against Deportivo last time out.
