The Reds signed the defender on loan from the La Liga champions in the summer and have an option to buy worth around £47million.

The Uruguay international produced another excellent display on Sunday as Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0, repeatedly putting his body on the line to secure the clean sheet.

'I'd make Ronald Araujo's move permanent now'

Araujo was once a tremendous talent for Barcelona and a key man in bringing La Liga back to Camp Nou.

At Anfield, however, Araujo looks a player reborn. With his prime years approaching, Liverpool hope they have stumbled upon a superb signing.

"£47m is a lot of money. He's a 27-year-old. Good age. I'd certainly buy him for £35m," King told Football Insider.

"I'd make his move permanent now if they can sort out the right price for him, because he's filled Trent's [Alexander-Arnold] place, hasn't he? He looks a good signing.

"He's earned the fan's respect because of the performances he's put in. He's a good footballer. You come from Barcelona, you're going to have good habits. Looking on Sunday, they could have done with him.

What has Araujo said about a potential move?

While Araujo already feels like a permanent Liverpool player, he is keen not to commit to anything too early.

"It's very early to talk about these things," he said last week. "I'm just trying to enjoy every day, continue to grow and develop every day to have that confidence.

"I'm really happy to be here, my family are also very happy, but it's a bit early to be talking about these things."
