Liverpool Stadium Announcer Has One Job on Sunday – Play Fleetwood Mac After Arsenal’s…

I wonder what music Liverpool supporters will hear at Anfield before Sunday’s massive Premier League clash against Arsenal.

Actually, I think I already know the answer!

The Liverpool stadium announcer surely has to play Fleetwood Mac after Arsenal were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Fleetwood Town.

You couldn’t make it up. Arsenal travelled to League Two Fleetwood hoping to book their place in the quarter-finals, but instead suffered a humiliating cup exit against a side from the fourth tier of English football.

And with the Gunners arriving at Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday, the temptation to have a little fun with that result will be enormous.

Fleetwood Town Have Given Liverpool Fans the Perfect Joke

Football has a wonderful habit of producing moments that supporters remember for years, and Fleetwood’s victory over Arsenal is certainly one of them.

On paper, this was a tie Arsenal would have expected to win. They had the resources, the squad and the experience to get the job done.

But football isn’t played on paper.

Fleetwood took the lead through Aaron Loupalo-Bi before Viktor Gyökeres equalised for Arsenal. The match finished 1-1, and Fleetwood then held their nerve in the penalty shoot-out to complete a remarkable upset.

For Fleetwood supporters, it was a historic night. For Arsenal, it was a result they will desperately want to put behind them.

For Liverpool fans? Well, the jokes practically write themselves.

Fleetwood Mac at Anfield? Surely It Has to Happen!

There is one obvious musical choice here: Fleetwood Mac.

Imagine arriving at Anfield on Sunday, taking your seat and hearing the opening notes of one of the band’s classic songs over the stadium speakers.

The Kop would know exactly what was going on.

I can already imagine the smiles around the ground, with Liverpool supporters enjoying the irony of Arsenal being knocked out by Fleetwood Town just days before the two Premier League rivals meet.

Of course, we don’t know what the stadium announcer has planned, and there is no guarantee that Fleetwood Mac will actually be played.

But if ever there was an opportunity for a bit of harmless football banter, this is it!

Come on, Liverpool. Someone must have Fleetwood Mac ready on the playlist!

Arsenal Must Now Turn Their Attention to Liverpool

Jokes aside, Arsenal will have to recover quickly from the disappointment.

Sunday’s trip to Anfield is a completely different challenge, and Mikel Arteta will want his players focused on responding with a strong performance.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will be looking to build on their 2-0 victory over Brighton. That result gave Andoni Iraola his first Premier League home win at Anfield and offered further encouragement that Liverpool are becoming more difficult to break down.

The Reds have their own work to do before Sunday’s game, particularly after the demanding schedule and the upcoming Carabao Cup tie against Chelsea.

But there is no denying that Arsenal’s cup exit has added an extra layer of intrigue to the weekend.

Liverpool supporters will be hoping their team can deliver on the pitch, while the possibility of a musical dig at their opponents is an entertaining bonus.

My Verdict: Make Sure Fleetwood Mac Is Ready!

I have no doubt Liverpool supporters will have plenty to say about Arsenal’s defeat, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Fleetwood Mac jokes continue right up until kick-off.

Would playing the band at Anfield be a little cheeky? Absolutely.

Would it make supporters laugh? I certainly think so!

Arsenal have suffered a shock defeat, Fleetwood Town have made history, and Liverpool now have a chance to welcome their Premier League rivals to Anfield on Sunday.

The stadium announcer has the perfect opportunity to join in the banter.

My message is simple: get Fleetwood Mac queued up, give the Kop a smile, and let the football do the talking once the whistle blows!
