Arsenal’s striker situation has become a talking point this season, with Kai Havertz preferred by Mikel Arteta. Viktor Gyokeres has spent much of the campaign as an option off the bench.

Gyokeres made his first Premier League start of the season against Everton on Saturday. He was awarded an assist for Ezri Konsa’s opening goal in a 2-0 win and opened his account on Wednesday against Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old scored 21 goals in 55 matches last season, when Arsenal won the title.

There are reports linking him back with a move away from the club ahead of the January transfer window.

Arsenal reportedly want around £55m for him and will not sell in January without a replacement.

That uncertainty has fuelled links with Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi.

The 22-year-old has 12 goals in 14 games this season, including a hat-trick in Brugge’s 4-3 Champions League win at Inter Milan on October 13.

However, according to reports cited by Metro, Club Brugge have no intention of selling Tresoldi in the January window, whatever offers arrive.

Arsenal are understood to be monitoring the Germany Under-21 international as Arteta considers adding attacking options, amid uncertainty over Gyokeres.

Brugge would rather keep Tresoldi until the end of the season, with a high-profile move more likely next summer.

Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad reports that a Brugge board member has ruled out a winter exit.

Sky Germany says Arsenal are seriously interested but does not expect a January move.

Brugge also hold the stronger hand in negotiations. Tresoldi’s contract runs until June 2029. He scored 23 goals in 58 appearances in his first season after joining from Hannover. That move cost a reported €7.5m.

Roma had a bid of about €35m, including bonuses, rejected earlier this summer.

Arsenal have recent dealings with the Belgian club. They signed Christos Tzolis in July for €40m (£34m), a Belgian league record.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are among the other clubs reported to be interested in Tresoldi.
