Chelsea vs Liverpool predicted lineups
These are the Chelsea vs Liverpool predicted lineups and latest team news for their Carabao Cup tie on October 28. This is an early tournament clash between two of the early favourites who will be aiming to advance after Arsenal crashed out to Fleetwood. With one major hitter out, another could fall here which would leave an easier path to victory for whoever advances from this round. Both manager’s are still early into their tenure’s with results and performances being a little mixed, whoever can come out on top here will certainly solidify their spot in their respective hot seat.

Chelsea vs Liverpool Injuries & Suspensions
Chelsea Team News
After coming back from the international break in good shape, the Blues have seen their numbers dwindle in recent weeks. Joao Pedro, Reece James, and Emi Martinez are all notable absentees from the starting unit. They are joined for this one by Cole Palmer who is serving a suspension after being sent off against Tottenham Hotspur. Jamie Gittens is a long-term absentee from the attack.
Pep Chavarria is the only main doubt after missing out on the squad for the two previous fixtures. He is a doubt for this one but there was no update given on his status by the manager in his pre-match conference.
Liverpool Team News
Andoni Iraola is juggling a mix of injuries and doubts himself, leaving him to piece together a starting unit. There are four absolute misses for the coach to deal with as Hugo Ekitike, Geovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley, and Jeremie Frimpong will miss out on this one. The issue comes with those he’s unsure of, Victor Munoz, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Florian Wirtz are all doubts but will be late decisions.

The Last Word
This will likely come down to who goes stronger, both teams are dealing with absences and issues of their own but the managers will be key. Whoever rotates less in the key areas will be the one to come out on top, particularly in the press. This could be a win for Iraola as his attacking prowess should take advantage of the weaker back line that Alonso has to contend with. It will be very interesting to see how Chelsea approach this as we have seen them play counter-attacking football when needed in this campaign.
