Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister (10) warming up before the Premier League match between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool at the City Ground, Nottingham, UK on 22 February 2026.

Alexis Mac Allister’s contract situation at Liverpool has taken another turn, as conflicting reports about the midfielder’s future continue to circulate.

The 27-year-old has been one of Liverpool’s most effective players under Andoni Iraola. He has scored four goals in 12 appearances in all competitions this season.

Mac Allister scored twice in a 4-3 Champions League win over Villarreal as Liverpool came back from two goals down at Anfield.

His contract runs until June 2028.

In September, he said it made him “very, very sad” that Liverpool had not offered him an extension, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch had signed new deals.

Fresh report has emerged from WinWin, with journalist Ismael Mahmoud claiming that Liverpool will open talks with Mac Allister and prepare a new contract renewal offer.

The report says Manchester City and Atletico Madrid are monitoring his situation.

Despite WinWin claims, Sky Sport Switzerland’s Sacha Tavolieri wrote that Liverpool currently have no plans to offer Mac Allister a new contract and are preparing a midfield overhaul for summer 2027.

Mac Allister has said he wants to stay. He also said there were options to leave in the summer and that he had not had direct conversations with the club about his contract.

Manchester City explored a move for him in the summer. Fabrizio Romano said at the time that intermediaries had offered the player to City, but Mac Allister stayed.

He scored the winner in Liverpool’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid in September, a day after his press conference.

Liverpool have been linked with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, Monaco’s Lamine Camara and AS Roma’s Manu Kone.
