Yes, we should be embarrassed, but it’s also time to move on!

The #2 ranked team in England was beaten by the #84 team that plays in League Two of the EFL.

I’m not sure “beaten” is the correct verb since the Gunners controlled the vast majority of the game, except for he Fleetwood Town first half goal, and of course, the penalty shootout. Those two moments turned out to be the most important of the match.

Is it embarrassing, YES, of course it is very embarrassing. Should we be shocked and disappointed, YES, we should be very shocked and disappointed. However, at the end of the day it is only the Carabao Cup, and as we all know, sh\*t happens.

Here was Mikel Arteta’s immediate reaction following the match, “It’s a really sad day for us. I cannot fault the effort of the players, but we had so many chances and shots and we needed to capitalize and we didn’t. We almost give then nothing the whole game, but the margins are so small. Attitude wise I was happy with the players, it was nothing to do with effort, or determination, otherwise I would be fuming.”

There you go.

I felt he had a strong line-up to face Fleetwood Town, and I was confident the Gunners would advance in this competition. But, the football gods had a totally different idea.

Next up is Liverpool on Sunday, and the club has no time to think about the Fleetwood loss. It has to be full steam ahead at Anfleld on the weekend.
