One position that is very strong at Arsenal is right back, where they can call upon either Jurrien Timber or Ben White as regular options. Cristhian Mosquera and Martin Zubimendi can also play there, giving Mikel Arteta considerable flexibility in that area of the pitch.
However, Arsenal are not completely satisfied with their current options, and the Gunners are eyeing a move for another right back. As reported by Fussball News, they like FC Porto’s Alberto Costa, who has emerged as a potential target for the club.
Costa’s Growing Reputation
Costa has been in fine form since returning to Portugal after his short spell at Juventus, and he is expected to attract interest from one of Europe’s leading clubs. Arsenal have been following his progress closely, and the Gunners have been very impressed by the performances he has delivered for FC Porto.
Costa is regarded as a superb right back who understands when to attack and when to defend. That balance makes him the type of player Arteta would appreciate, particularly in a system that demands full backs to contribute both defensively and in attacking phases. As a result, Arsenal are firmly in the race for his signature.

Competition From Manchester United
However, Arsenal are not the only Premier League club showing interest in Costa. The report states that Manchester United are also keen to sign him, creating the possibility of a direct battle between two of England’s biggest clubs.
The Red Devils are struggling in several areas of their team, and right back is another position they believe can be improved. Costa is therefore a player they would love to bring in, and their interest could complicate Arsenal’s plans.
For Arsenal, the attraction is clear. Although they already possess strong options at right back, adding Costa would increase competition, provide greater depth, and potentially offer a long-term solution in an important position. Whether they can beat United to his signature remains to be seen.
