Chelsea travel to Anfield this evening
Welcome to football.london for live coverage of Chelsea's Carabao Cup fourth round tie with Liverpool at Anfield this evening.
Xabi Alonso returns to Liverpool for the third time as manager - but his first time since taking the Chelsea job in the summer. Alonso will take on his close friend, someone he has known since very young, Andoni Iraola for a place in the fifth round of the League Cup.
Alonso lost both of his games at Anfield as a coach, one with Bayer Leverkusen and the other with Real Madrid. Tonight he will be hoping to get one over on his former club, but he will have to do that without Cole Palmer (suspended) and Joao Pedro (thigh injury).
Joao Pedro had a scan on his thigh on Sunday and Alonso revealed 24 hours later that he is expected to be out until after the next international break. Palmer, meanwhile, will serve his one-match suspension after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession in the second half of the defeat to Tottenham on Saturday night.
When Chelsea take on Liverpool, we're usually entertained. Let's hope for something similar tonight. football.london's Blues correspondent Bobby Vincent is live at Anfield throughout the evening to bring you all of the action right here, with kick-off at 8pm (UK time).
