Under-pressure Manchester United boss Michael Carrick will be desperate to see his side improve when they face Chelsea on Saturday.

The Red Devils were beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday, having suffered a shock 4-1 loss against Italian outfit Como just days earlier in the Champions League.

Carrick’s side have so far won just two of 12 matches across all competitions this term, keeping only one clean sheet.

The former England international has therefore found himself under huge pressure at Old Trafford, although he is expected to be in charge when his side visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

In the meantime, it appears that United are set to miss out on one of their transfer targets.

As per TEAMtalk, Manchester United are unlikely to be able to agree a deal to sign transfer target Felix Nmecha during the upcoming January transfer window.

The report claims that Nmecha’s current club, Borussia Dortmund, are highly unlikely to allow the midfielder to depart the club during the mid-season window, despite significant interest from elsewhere.

Both United and Premier League rivals Liverpool are credited with an interest in the Germany international, who impressed for his country at the World Cup in North America earlier this summer.

Nmecha, 26, joined Dortmund from fellow German side Wolfsburg in 2023, two years after leaving Manchester City.

The midfielder made three senior appearances for the Citizens during his time in England, but has reached new heights in Germany and has become a regular for his country.

Chelsea and Newcastle United are also said to have shown interest in the player, while Italian outfit Roma are also credited with having had an interest in the German.

Nmecha’s current contract with Dortmund is set to run until the end of the 2029/30 campaign.
