Both sides made a promising start to the match, but that early impetus faded pretty quickly

We woke back up about halfway through the half and started to create some dangerous situations. It wasn’t too cohesive or scintillating, but at least we seemed to have more of a plan than last time out.

In one of those promising moves, Moisés Caicedo made a good run across the box and drew a rash challenge from behind from Ryan Gravenberch. The referee pointed to the spot, and after a bit of dramatics, Morgan Rogers dispatched the penalty with ease.

Unfortunately, our lead would last just a couple minutes, as Wesley Fofana’s flailing arm gifted a penalty to the home side, and Cody Gakpo did not miss either.

Chelsea made the better start to the second half, but were not really able to create anything too threatening.

Liverpool started putting on their big-hitters around the hour-mark, and there was only really going to be one winner from there. Thankfully, Penders did his best to keep us in it — and we even had a couple decent looks at the other end — and we would even get it to a penalty shootout at the end of regulation (no extra-time).

Alas, Liverpool would prevail with some rather well taken penalties.
