Arsenal has appealed Max Dowman’s red card from the match against Fleetwood Town in the hope that it will be overturned, allowing him to play against Liverpool this weekend. Dowman is a key player for the team and would be useful to the Gunners over the next few weeks, particularly as they are without the injured Bukayo Saka, while Noni Madueke’s fitness cannot be fully trusted.
The Gunners were embarrassed in midweek, and their next match is against a very good Liverpool side that has been in fine form in recent weeks. The fixture is also at Anfield, a ground Arsenal last won at in 2012, making it a particularly difficult test. Arteta needs all the players he can call upon for such an important match.
Arsenal’s Appeal Explained
The manager is doing his best to ensure the team wins, and as reported by The Sun, Arsenal has decided to appeal the red card Dowman received during the game. The Gunners believe the attacker should have been shown a yellow card instead and are hopeful that the decision will be overturned.
If the appeal is successful, Dowman would become eligible for Arsenal’s next three league matches. That would be a significant boost for Arteta, who is currently managing a squad affected by injuries and fitness concerns in attacking areas.

Waiting on the Decision
The success of the appeal does not depend entirely on Arsenal, but the club has done its part and must now wait for the outcome. The decision will determine whether Dowman can feature at Anfield or whether he must serve a suspension across important upcoming fixtures.
For Arsenal, the appeal represents an attempt to protect a promising young player while also strengthening their options for a demanding run of matches. Until the outcome is confirmed, Dowman’s availability against Liverpool remains uncertain, and Arteta must prepare his squad for either possibility.
