The Carabao Cup quarter-final draw has been made as the competition reaches its business end.
The fourth round saw several high-profile casualties, with both Arsenal and Chelsea crashing out. Manchester City won the EFL Cup last season and are in the quarter-finals, but how do the bookmakers see the race for silverware success?
The five favourites to win the 2026/27 Carabao Cup
For a club of Everton’s size, almost 32 years without a major trophy is a gigantic drought. The Toffees are fifth favourites for League Cup success, despite having not sealed progress to the quarter-finals, ahead of Thursday’s fourth-round tie with Newcastle. Everton have never won the League Cup, while David Moyes has never won a major domestic trophy. Could those barren runs end in 2027?
Newcastle ended their 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy after winning the 2025 Carabao Cup. Much has changed since then, with Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon all departing, alongside manager Eddie Howe.
Matthias Jaissle is unproven at this level, but has got a track record of trophies as a manager. The German has won two Austrian Bundesliga titles, and the AFC Champions League with Saudi side Al-Ahli.
3. Bournemouth – 8/1
Could Bournemouth win a first-ever major trophy this season? The Cherries have recovered from a slow start to the season to thrive under new manager Marco Rose. In recent weeks, Bournemouth have thrashed AC Milan, Manchester United and Aston Villa by 3-0 scorelines in three different competitions. Confidence is building.
No side has won the League Cup more times than Liverpool, who have lifted his trophy on 10 occasions, most recently in 2024. The Reds have beaten Spurs and Chelsea to reach this side, navigating difficult draws in impressive fashion. Bournemouth are up next in the quarter-finals.
The holders and favourites. Manchester City can equal Liverpool’s record of 10 League Cup wins if successful this season. The Cityzens squeezed past Brighton on penalties in the fourth round, and have drawn third-tier Bradford City in the last eight. City have the squad depth to compete on all fronts under Enzo Maresca.
