Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have experienced contrasting starts to the new Premier League campaign.
Liverpool currently sit fifth after collecting 12 points from their opening seven matches.
The Reds recently secured a 2-1 victory over Brentford but have already recorded three league draws.
Tottenham have endured a considerably more difficult opening to their campaign.
Spurs sit 16th with only six points from their first seven Premier League fixtures.
However, their recent 3-1 victory over Coventry City provided a much-needed lift after a difficult run.
Both clubs are already monitoring potential opportunities ahead of the January transfer window.
One situation developing at Stamford Bridge has now attracted attention from both Premier League sides.
According to Flashscore, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Chelsea defender Malo Gusto.
Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the right-back’s situation.
Chelsea valued Gusto at £67 million during the summer but are now reconsidering that figure.
The defender remains contracted until 2030, although his limited role has created uncertainty around his future.
Chelsea believe a departure during either 2027 transfer window could become realistic under suitable conditions. However, the Blues are not actively attempting to push Gusto towards an exit.
They have started assessing potential right-back options as part of their long-term recruitment planning.
Chelsea are also holding discussions with Gusto’s representatives to understand his position at the club.
The Blues want to assess potential replacements before reaching any definitive decision over a sale.
Manchester City showed interest during the summer, while Atletico Madrid are also following developments.
Liverpool and Tottenham could therefore have an opportunity if Chelsea eventually become willing to negotiate.
The asking price will remain crucial after Chelsea’s previous valuation discouraged potential suitors.
Any reduction could significantly change the situation ahead of the January transfer window.
For now, Liverpool and Tottenham remain attentive as Chelsea assess Gusto’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
