Fleetwood celebrate famous Carabao Cup win over Arsenal

Iraola’s Reds required penalties to defeat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes. Aside from safe passage into the next round, it was a positive evening for Liverpool as they received no new injury concerns, while also recovering Florian Wirtz from a knock.

Iraola made sweeping changes for the cup clash, with seven players making way. Virgil van Dijk’s minutes were managed, the centre-half replaced by Jeremy Jacquet during the game but that pairing will be reunited to face Arsenal.

Milos Kerkez was rested against Chelsea and will regain his spot on the left, while Ronald Araujo, who played at centre-halg on Wednesday, will moonlight at right-back once again in the absence of Jeremie Frimpong.

Ryan Gravenberch played the full 90 against Chelsea and should get the nod to face Arsenal, with midfield partner Alexis Mac Allister restored to the starting XI. Alexander Isak and Bradley Barcola came off the bench and will return to the line-up.

It is hoped that Dominik Szoboszlai may be fit enough to return , though Iraola has urged patience with the player, so a start feels unlikely.

Victor Munoz is a doubt for the weekend having now missed the Brighton and Chelsea matches, but Iraola’s comments firmly place the Spanish winger in contention for a start.
