Federico Chiesa’s future at Liverpool is once again attracting attention in Italy.

The forward turned 29 on October 25 but has struggled for regular playing time under new head coach Andoni Iraola.

A muscle injury kept Chiesa out of Liverpool’s early fixtures this season.

He returned to full training earlier this month before making his first appearance on October 11, coming on as a late substitute in the 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City.

Iraola also left the Italian out of Liverpool’s Champions League squad for the league phase. Chiesa was subsequently an unused substitute in the 2-0 win over Brighton.

His limited involvement has fuelled speculation about a possible move away from Anfield, with several Italian clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.

According to Tuttomercato Web, Inter are considering a January move for Chiesa.

The report claims that club officials Dario Baccin and Giuseppe Marotta are following the forward, whom they view as a potential addition to a squad that lacks his particular qualities.

However, any move would depend on Inter creating space in their squad, with Luis Henrique emerging as the most likely departure.

The Brazilian came close to joining Roma during the summer transfer window.

The two clubs reportedly reached a verbal agreement in principle over a deal worth between €25 million and €28 million, including bonuses, but the move collapsed over the player’s wages.

Luis Henrique subsequently remained at Inter, preventing the club from pursuing Chiesa at that stage.

Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Inter would have considered the Liverpool forward if the Brazilian had left, although negotiations over Chiesa never began.

Inter are not alone in monitoring the situation. Calciomercato.it reported earlier this month that Atalanta and Lazio were also following Chiesa, although no concrete negotiations were under way.

The forward remains under contract at Liverpool until June 2028, with his reported annual salary of around €6 million potentially complicating a move.

For now, a return to Serie A remains a possibility rather than an imminent transfer. Inter’s ability to move for Chiesa in January could depend on Luis Henrique’s future and whether Liverpool are prepared to sanction the Italian’s departure.
