Liverpool are not yet considered contenders for the Premier League title this season, but that narrative could change this weekend as the Reds welcome champions Arsenal to Anfield on Sunday.

Iraola has lost only two of his 27 Premier League games in 2026, a run that includes his time at Bournemouth. Liverpool have won three of their last four league games against Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton.

Arsenal are winless in their last 13 away league games against Liverpool, a run that dates back to the 2012-13 season. On Tuesday, they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by fourth-tier Fleetwood Town, who won 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Liverpool reached the League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday, beating Chelsea on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Anfield. The result extended their winning run at home.

“It’s three in a row at home, which is very important,” Iraola said.

While the men’s team prepare for Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Arsenal, Liverpool Women will also be in action as the club faces a busy weekend across both sides.

Gareth Taylor’s team travel to East London to face West Ham United in the Barclays Women’s Super League, with kick-off at Chigwell Construction Stadium at 2pm GMT.

Taylor has confirmed that midfielder Sam Kerr is available for the trip. The Scotland international has missed Liverpool’s last three matches through injury but is fit for Sunday’s game.

“This week has given us time to get back on the training pitch, to get a few players back,” he said. “Sam Kerr is back in contention, Mari Ward is further down the line with her return, same with Lucy Parry.”

Lily Woodham will not feature, while Ceri Holland remains sidelined. Speaking to the media on Thursday afternoon, Taylor acknowledged the challenge of managing the squad’s injury situation.

“We’ve lost Lily Woodham for this game, so it’s always kind of getting a couple back and then losing one, but that’s football.”

Taylor was more positive about Holland’s recovery, suggesting the midfielder could return to training soon.

“Ceri is getting closer. Her progress has been really good, so hopefully in the next game or two we’ll start to see her reintroduced, but certainly [she will be] back on the training pitch soon.”

“She is really ahead of schedule and she has been a big loss, I think. For a team like us to lose Ceri, I think that is a big loss.”

Liverpool drew both of last season’s WSL meetings with West Ham, with each match unfolding differently. In December, Liverpool drew 2-2 at Chigwell Construction Stadium despite having Gemma Bonner sent off in the 19th minute. Beata Olsson scored an 87th-minute equaliser to earn the Reds a point.

In April, West Ham won 1-0 at St Helens Stadium through a sixth-minute own goal from Cornelia Kapocs. The defeat ended Liverpool’s five-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

Liverpool Women drew 2-2 with London City Lionesses last Sunday, with a stoppage-time own goal from Jana Fernandez earning them a point.
