Amanda Staveley's chances of buying Everton from The Friedkin Group have improved greatly.
After selling up their shares at Newcastle in 2024, Staveley and her husband, Mehrdad Ghodoussi, are rumoured to be eyeing up a move to purchase TFG's stake at Everton.
It comes after it was announced earlier this month, to the surprise of many behind the scenes at Everton, that the Friedkins are ready to sell their ownership of the Merseyside club, less than two years since buying the Blues from Farhad Moshiri.
The iPaper has reported that Staveley's UAE-based PCP Capital Partners have been in communication with Everton.
However, that same story reported that the most likely buyer for the Toffees was likely to be American, with Staveley largely backed by money originating from the Middle East.
Staveley, though, remains keen to return to English football ownership, and a door now seems to be opening at Everton.
Wednesday events change landscape of Everton takeover
One of the big names linked with buying Everton has been US billionaire Michael Dell, who this week became the fourth-richest person in the whole world.
However, Dell dramatically rubbished the idea of buying Everton from TFG on Wednesday night, taking to X to respond to a fan-run Blues news account.
That could now mean that there's one less major player for Staveley to deal with in the race for the Toffees' ownership, opening the door slightly for her to make a move.
Staveley seems dead-set on returning to English football following her and her husband's exit from Newcastle two years ago.
She's tried and failed in a move to buy Tottenham from the Lewis Family and has more recently made an offer to buy the late David Gold's shares at West Ham.
It does seem as though Staveley is more focussed on buying a club based in London, because West Ham are definitely a less attractive option than Everton right now due to their Championship status and complicated ownership picture.
However, Everton Football Club is one that people should be queuing up to buy - and that seems to be the case.

What TFG are currently doing behind the scenes
According to the Daily Mail on 28 October, TFG are in the process of finding out which bidders are serious.
It is understood that they have received interest in their shares, but separating the Josh Wanders and the Dan Friedkins is something that needs to be done carefully.
The last thing Evertonians want is another protracted saga that sees them almost drop into the Championship amid serious financial issues.
Moshiri allowed that to happen with his focus on selling Everton to 777 Sports two years ago; something which TFG will be trying to avoid at all costs to ensure a smooth transition of power.
