Everton have dropped Jack Grealish from their squad to face Newcastle United tonight due to an unauthorised absence from training, according to The Times’ Paul Joyce.
Everton host the Magpies at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, and Toffees manager David Moyes will be desperate to advance.
However, he will have to do so after the club confirmed that Grealish is unavailable for selection due to a breach of Club discipline.
The 31-year-old has been suspended by the Toffees and Everton will have to get a result in his absence.
Grealish should know better given his experience, and Moyes has done the right thing by punishing him.
The Toffees are back in action after tonight when they travel to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle next Monday in the Premier League.
The Manchester City-owned attacker could be back in the squad, and he owes the fans and his teammates an apology.
He has featured in six games across all competitions this season since returning to Everton on loan but has yet to score or assist.
Grealish bagged two goals and six assists in 20 Premier League appearances for the Toffees last season before injury struck.
He is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and will not be short of suitors across the Premier League and Europe.
