The Spaniard has since been linked to Barcelona and Real Madrid despite being under contract at Arsenal until 2028.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, he is still happy at the Emirates ahead of contract talks, and neither of the Spanish giants are likely to firm their interest in his services up in the coming transfer windows.
Raya controversially missed out on the Yashin Trophy on Monday night as he was beaten to the award by Spain teammate Unai Simon.
David Raya content to agree to longer Arsenal stay
Raya did insist that he was still happy at Arsenal in his recent interview with the Spanish press, despite conceding that he is interested in a move to his homeland in the years to come.
The 31-year-old has been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League for each of the last seasons and kept his fifth clean sheet in eight league matches so far this term against Everton last weekend.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "If he were to leave Arsenal, there’s no immediate opening for one of the big boys in Spain right now as well. Barcelona have got Joan Garcia, and it looks like Courtois is going to sign a new contract at Real Madrid as well, so I don't see any opening for David Raya right now.
"The player is happy at Arsenal, and obviously Arsenal are very happy with him, so I think any potential move back to his native Spain will be probably on the back burner for a while just yet."
Arteta has utilised Raya to the best of his abilities in recent years, after many were sceptical about him becoming the Gunners' number one following a move from Brentford.
He said: "I think David has to play in Spain at some point...on the beach with his friends in the summer. For the next few years, he needs to play here for Arsenal.”
He is clearly not planning to let Raya leave anytime soon as Arsenal look to extend his contract past 2028.
