Hill Dickinson Stadium hosted the last 16 showdown between the Premier League pairing.
On a week where Fleetwood knocked out Arsenal, and two of four games went to penalties on Wednesday, this was the final treat.
But, it appears someone forgot to tell Sky Sports that.
Drama started before a ball was even kicked, with Jack Grealish left out for disciplinary reasons as teams were released.
With 8,000 away fans and the home end packed out, those not there were sold ridiculously short.
What did Sky Sports do for Everton vs Newcastle?
The answer to that, is embarrassingly, very little.
Fans were left scrambling on social media, when the game wasn't shown on any main Sky Sports channels.
Tennis was on three channels, while highlights of golf and cricket were also shown.
The only football scheduled were highlights from League One and Two.
Instead, Everton and Newcastle fans, as well as everyone else, were forced to settle for Sky Sports + coverage.
No live studio, second-rate commentary and pundits, as well as awful graphics and all-round quality is what we got.
When you consider how much the general public have to pay for Sky Sports, that is an absolute disgrace.
How did Everton start vs Newcastle?
With games moved so much for the television companies in modern football, you'd expect some effort in return.
But, that is never the case.
And Everton fans watching will have been feeling the same in those first 10 minutes, with some nervy moments.
Those saw Jordan Pickford pull out his classic angry tantrums at his teammates, but it sparked them into life.
Tyrique George, Hayden Hackney, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Tyler Dibling were at the heart of everything good, before James Garner scored the opener.
Sky Sports are already in the bad books anyway, moving three upcoming fixtures, including the Merseyside derby to an early Sunday start.
Brentford away on a Monday night is another disgrace, with limited travel for those Toffees fans hitting the capital.
So, while Everton fans have to deal with, and pay extra, for games like that, the least Sky could do is give them proper coverage on nights like tonight.
