Jacobo Ramon recent performances for Como have proved that he would be ideal for Chelsea as they explore a new centre-back signing.

Just two other Premier League teams have conceded more than their 15 goals allowed in the opening eight games of the campaign.

Chelsea were also believed to be keen on prising 21-year-old Ramon from Como, but he stayed in Serie A to continue his progress under Cesc Fabregas.

Ramon has shone throughout this campaign and recent performances have highlighted just how ideal he could be to Chelsea as they continue to look for another defensive addition.

The Serie A club had no plans to let him leave after just one season, with Chelsea quickly pivoting to other targets and eventually signing Honest Ahanor before loaning him straight to Crystal Palace.

Ramon has moved to another level this season, with his stock rising each week that he impresses under Fabregas.

He scored against Man United last week and against Torino on Tuesday, and also won the most aerial duels (12) and made the most accurate passes (93) of any player in the latter match.

Ramon is a leader among Serie A centre-backs for line-breaking passes per 90 (11.7, 94th percentile), duels won per 90 (6.83, 88th percentile) and aerial duels won per 90 (4.19, 93rd percentile).

He is a complete defender who boasts aerial prowess as his biggest strength by far, which is exactly what Chelsea need to complement their ball-playing centre-backs right now.

Ramon looks like the best signing available for the Blues in the next window, as a defender with huge potential who loves doing the dirty work and already has experience in the Champions League.

Which other centre-backs are Chelsea looking at?

Alonso clearly knows that he needs to bolster his rearguard depth, with Chelsea linked to several different centre-backs who are of a similar profile to Ramon right now.

Antonio Rudiger has also been touted for a sensational return to Stamford Bridge as he struggles for regular game time at Real Madrid, while Nottingham Forest's Murillo is also thought to be on their radar.
