Everton winger Jack Grealish and Alan Brazil talking on talkSPORT
The on-loan Manchester City winger was omitted from the squad for a "breach of club discipline".
It was later reported that the 31-year-old missed training without permission on Monday.
David Moyes consequently took the decision to drop him from the squad after conversing with chief executive Angus Kinnear.
On the pitch, Everton booked their spot in the quarter-finals with 3-1 win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium with James Garner, Hayden Hackney, and Thierno Barry all on target.
Moyes was asked about Grealish's situation after the game, and Alan Brazil was not happy with how he answered the question.
David Moyes responds to Jack Grealish availability question
Coincidentally, Everton face Newcastle again in the Premier League on Monday.
This time, the Toffees will make the trip to St James' Park for Monday night football.
It remains to be seen if Grealish will be available for that clash, and David Moyes refused to clarify the situation after the game.
The gaffer said he would not be discussing team selection, and was non-committal on whether Grealish would be included.
Speaking live on talkSPORT, Brazil hit back at what Moyes said and thinks he could have handled the situation a little better.
Brazil said: "I don't like that, I know he's being diplomatic but I don't like that.
"I think you can clear it up but just saying 'look, there's a reason, you'll get to know later on, we're still dealing with it, it's not serious but there's a little problem which we've addressed and move on'."
Brazil had earlier expressed hope Grealish would soon be back, saying: "There was no Jack last night, disciplinary. I just hope Jack, he had a couple of injury problems again didn't he?
"He was doing so well and I just hope it's not serious, if it is discipline, and that's what we're reading, if it is breaching a rule, I hope it's not."
Everton need to clarify Jack Grealish situation
There needs to be clarity on Grealish's situation as soon as possible.
What's done is done, and Everton took the necessary, and correct, action to deal with the situation.
But by now clarifying if Grealish will play next time out, it allows the noise to continue and the speculation to grow.
In Moyes' defence, he might still be waiting to have discussions with the player and other backroom members before making a decision.
However, before Monday's game, Moyes could do with addressing it with a little more clarity.
