Indeed, David Moyes' booked their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Thursday night.

A 3-1 victory over Newcastle sets up a clash with Arsenal-killers Fleetwood Town on 14 December at Highbury Stadium.

James Garner, Hayden Hackney and Thierno Barry scored the goals for the Toffees, whilst Dan Burn netted a late consolation for the Magpies.

The result will mean a lot to Everton, as not only does it arrest a three-game winless run, it moves the Club closer to their first piece of silverware since 1995.

However, no Toffee will be savouring it more than Pickford, who certainly got his fair share of stick from the travelling Tynesiders on Thursday night.

What did Everton post about Jordan Pickford after Newcastle win?

Pickford made his 369th Everton appearance against Newcastle, and marked it in impressive style.

He was excellent between the sticks for the Toffees, against a team in Newcastle that he's certainly not the most fond of.

A boyhood Sunderland fan and former Black Cats goalkeeper, he's always had to take flak from Toon fans whenever he's played against them.

However, with the help of Everton's social media team, the 32-year-old has got some revenge.

Shortly after the full-time whistle blew, Everton posted a video of Pickford walking round the pitch at full-time with Toffees fans applauding and singing his song.

The post was captioned with: "local hero, goodnight Toffees!", and this will no doubt wind some Newcastle fans up.

Local Hero has been Newcastle's walkout song at St James' Park since the early 1990s, and is an anthem for the city in general too.

So, just how good were Pickford's underlying numbers against Newcastle?

How many saves did Pickford make vs Newcastle?

There has been talk this season that Pickford may be starting to decline from the elite-level Premier League goalkeeper he's been for so long.

His future as England number one has never been more under threat than it is now with the emergence of James Trafford at Leeds United.

But, with performances like the one he put in for Everton against Newcastle, he's sent a clear message that he's still at the top of his game.

Per FotMob, Pickford made a whopping eight saves on Thursday night, whilst also preventing 0.77 goals and playing nine accurate long balls.

He made four saves from shots inside the box, three diving saves, eight throws, 13 recoveries and took 65 touches - the most of any Everton player.

Pickford will have absolutely loved that win last night, and he'll be shaking a few hands in Everton's social media team on Friday too.
