Michael Dell laughs off Everton takeover talk, here is why he was never buying the club

And crucially, to someone who is going to give this club the time, effort and investment it deserves!
Sell it to the most money 💰
Please don't sell to more Yanks. Would like buyers who are steeped in football culture. No idea who the 'Dell family ' are, but prefer them not to buy. Just more yanks trying to make a quick buck???
Everton could be better off without Dell, despite his wealth
Putting aside how out of character this would be, if Dell did want a shot at running a club, he would end up trapped by regulatory walls preventing him from doing so smoothly.
This is due to the fact that MSD holds debt positions across multiple clubs up and down the footballing pyramid, and efforts to take over Everton would trigger conflict-of-interest reviews under Premier League and EFL rules.
Another point to make is that the days of clubs being allowed to get taken over and then spend their way to the top are over, meaning Dell’s arrival wouldn’t actually be all that special, considering the hoops the club would need to jump through with PSR.
Everton’s pathway to stability over the past few years has repeatedly been hijacked, but this season on the pitch is showing that they aren’t far off challenging at the top. Everton needs stable, professional, and invested owners who care, not US-based billionaires who react to news on X with emojis.
Dell was never going to buy Everton; his model has always been built on lucrative private credit as opposed to club stewardship, and the existing MSD involvement in English football would make any attempt a minefield of legal trouble. With this fantasy takeover put to bed, focus can return to what Everton really needs, fully committed ownership who are capable of delivering stability over the long term.
Leon Osman has one request of Harrison Armstrong at Everton, and he’s right to make it

Harrison Armstrong has undoubtedly been one of the bright sparks of Everton’s season so far – but Leon Osman would like to see one thing from the midfielder.
So far in 2026/27, Harrison Armstrong has started all eight of Everton’s Premier League games, which has been refreshing to see, considering how he faded away towards the end of last season and barely played.
Armstrong enjoyed a good pre-season and immediately found himself in the starting XI – and his consistency has been the reason he’s stayed there.
One of the particularly strong parts of his game has been his physical work, with Armstrong having covered a huge amount of distance in the Premier League so far. Indeed, he currently ranks second.
But while he is undoubtedly making superb progress, Leon Osman believes there’s a side of his game that needs to improve.
How excited are you about Harrison Armstrong's development right now at Everton? Don Hutchison reckons he could eventually get to Declan Rice's level 👀
Ikr
Wow imagine he reached anywhere near that level 🤩what a player Kroos was
Didn’t send him out on loan for this season though did he, and he’s started him every game so far. There’s far more things with Moyes to be critical than his handling of Armstrong imo
Leon Osman wants Harrison Armstrong to become a goalscorer for Everton
Armstrong has received a lot of praise for the amount of work he gets through, and how hard he battles against his opposition counterparts.
But for Osman, Armstrong needs to be scoring more goals.
He said on the Outside The Box Pod: “Harrison Armstrong is one or two or three teenagers that’s started every game this season in the Premier League. He’s played a lot of minutes. Good on him, but does he need a bit of a mental rest? Does he just keep on going, do you play him?
“Do you know what I want from Harrison Armstrong. I’m not saying I’m demanding it from him yet because he’s still young. But he needs to start scoring goals, for me. He’s done so well, and he’s shown so much and now I want him to get me a goal.
“He’s box-to-box, he’s having shots. He’s getting up and this is an actual compliment to him, this is credit to him. This is not me saying, ‘He’s just about treading water’. This is me going the opposite way and saying, ‘He’s doing so well, he’s showing that he could be such a good midfielder, that he just now needs to add goals to his game’.
Osman went on to suggest Armstrong – who Don Hutchison believes could get to Declan Rice’s level one day – has it in him to score around eight to 10 goals per season for Everton.
As per Fotmob, Armstrong actually ranks fifth in the Everton squad for highest xG per 90, but he has yet to open his account for the Toffees. He also has a shots-per-90 metric of 0.9, ranking him seventh in the Everton squad.
So he has been showing himself to be a bit of a threat, we now just need to see him find the net.
He got one goal during his loan spell with Preston and at Derby County he also scored just once. So goals have not been a big part of his game up to now – improving in this aspect will see him get to the next level.
