Chelsea star to be sidelined for several weeks, could be out of action until January

Chelsea defender Maxence Lacroix is expected to be sidelined for several weeks following his injury against Liverpool in a big blow for the Stamford Bridge club, according to RMC Sport.

The Blues manager Xabi Alonso was worried after the Frenchman limped out of the Carabao Cup game between Chelsea and Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Lacroix has since undergone medical examinations, which have confirmed that he has suffered a hamstring tear.

He will miss tomorrow’s Premier League match against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge and has also been ruled out of France’s November international camp.

The Frenchman could also be out of action for the rest of the year, dealing a big blow on Chelsea’s defensive depth.

The 26-year-old joined the Blues from Crystal Palace in the summer and has played 11 games across all competitions.

He has started seven of their eight Premier League fixtures and Alonso has a big selection headache to deal with in the coming weeks.

Chelsea are already without Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Emiliano Martinez and Reece James due to injuries, while Moises Caicedo and Malo Gusto also could not finish Wednesday’s game.

The Blues are desperate to return to winning ways after suffering back-to-back defeats against the Reds and Tottenham Hotspur.

They will fancy their chances against a Man United team that are winless in their last eight games across all competitions.
