Nicolo Tresoldi puts Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City on alert

Five Premier League clubs watched Nicolo Tresoldi score a hat-trick for Club Brugge in their win over St Truiden. Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle were all in attendance to scout the in-form striker. The 22-year-old has 12 goals in 14 games this season, yet Brugge insist he is not for sale.

Why five clubs are tracking Nicolo Tresoldi

As reported by TEAMtalk, Chelsea and Manchester City planned their scouting trip before the game. Chelsea are weighing their short-term needs against long-term plans at centre-forward as they review their attacking options. City are running their own checks, although there is no suggestion that Erling Haaland will leave soon.

Of his 12 goals, seven came in the Belgian league, four in the Champions League and one in another competition. Three of those goals came at San Siro in a 4-3 win over Inter Milan on 13 October. Three more followed in the 3-2 win over St Truiden on 26 October, his third hat-trick in 26 days. He has scored seven times in his last four games and is now Brugge’s leading scorer.

Tresoldi’s 2026/27 stats for Club Brugge so far, as per FOTMOB:

Competition Matches Started Minutes played Goals Assists

Belgian Pro League 9 8 697 7 0

Champions League 3 3 255 4 0

What Tresoldi could add tactically

Those two wins reveal how much Brugge rely on him in attack at the moment. Brugge scored seven goals across the Inter Milan and St Truiden games, and Tresoldi supplied six of them. Brugge also conceded five goals in those matches, so his finishing settled tight contests rather than adding to easy wins.

Chelsea would probably use him as their focal point, since his finishing gives them a dependable scorer. City would ask for more patience and short passing in tight spaces, which makes the step up harder. The Premier League rewards forwards who cope with its pace and physical duels, a test he has yet to face.

Price, contract and transfer outlook

Brugge have ruled out selling Tresoldi in the January transfer window and want to keep him until the season ends. A club executive told Het Nieuwsblad that the striker is“priceless”, and his contract runs until June 2029. That long deal gives Brugge control over any talks, so buyers must meet their price.

TEAMtalk says a club-record fee of €40m (£33.5m) would be needed to take him away from Brugge. Goal adds that his market value is said to be above €50m, which suggests the final price could be higher. Brugge signed him from Hannover 96 in 2025 for just €7.5m, a fee that now looks small beside these valuations. The Daily Star says Brugge reportedly turned down a €35m bid from Roma this summer.

AC Milan reportedly lead the chase, and Gazzetta dello Sport calls him a personal priority for owner Gerry Cardinale. Milan will probably have to wait until the summer, which makes a January exit unlikely. Nicolo Tresoldi was born in Italy, holds a German passport and has 16 goals in 27 games for Germany’s Under-21 side. He has yet to choose between those two nations, and Argentina may also be an option through his mother. He plans to decide after next summer’s Under-21 European Championship, so his football future stays open.
