A weekend packed with heavyweight clashes awaits across Europe, with fierce rivalries, title showdowns and under-pressure managers taking centre stage.

From Der Klassiker in Germany to the Derby della Madonnina in Italy, some of European football's biggest rivalries headline an unmissable weekend of action.

There are huge encounters in the Premier League, too, as Chelsea host Manchester United and champions Arsenal travel to Anfield.

Here are five football fixtures you won't want to miss this weekend.

Chelsea vs Manchester United

Saturday 31st October, kick-off 12:30pm GMT

There are some who feel Michael Carrick is a dead man walking as Manchester United manager, and Saturday's Halloween showdown with Chelsea could be the final nail in the coffin.

Carrick was given a stay of execution this week despite heavy defeats to Como and Bournemouth, but an extension to an eight-game winless run is unlikely to be tolerated.

Chelsea, meanwhile, need an uplift of their own. Xabi Alonso's side were beaten by Spurs in their last outing at Stamford Bridge, before exiting the Carabao Cup at Liverpool in midweek.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund

Saturday 31st October, kick-off 5:30pm GMT

The Bundesliga's top two meet in Der Klassiker this weekend with only goal difference between them.

Borussia Dortmund have matched the champions stride for stride in the opening weeks of the campaign, but this represents the ultimate challenge for Niko Kovac against his old side.

Bayern are unbeaten in the last five meetings, winning each of the last three, including SuperCup success in August.

The Bavarians are also buoyed by Harry Kane's success at the Ballon d'Or, as the England captain became the first Bayern winner since 1981.

AC Milan vs Inter Milan

Saturday 31st October, kick-off 7:45pm GMT

The Derby della Madonnina returns to the calendar this weekend, as AC Milan host Inter at their shared San Siro home. Milan's unbeaten league start came to an end last weekend, as Ruben Amorim's side lost 4-2 to Bologna. Leaking goals has been an issue of late, with memories of a 3-0 thrashing at Bournemouth in the Europa League still fresh.

Inter, in contrast, are in fine form. Their 25 points from nine games represents the club's joint-best start to a season in their Serie A history, alongside 1966-67 and 1988-89.

Liverpool vs Arsenal

Sunday 1st November, kick-off 4:30pm GMT

Liverpool welcome the champions to Anfield in a major match-up this weekend. Andoni Iraola's side have shown encouraging signs in recent weeks, winning five consecutive games (including penalty shootouts) across all competitions.

Arsenal arrive on Merseyside having been stunned by fourth-tier Fleetwood in midweek, and Mikel Arteta will demand a response at a ground that has not been a happy hunting ground.

The Arsenal manager was in midfield the last time the Gunners won at Anfield in the Premier League, with Arsenal winless in their last 13 away Premier League games against Liverpool (D5 L8).

Juventus vs Napoli

Sunday 1st November, kick-off 7:45pm GMT

Two titans of Serie A collide this weekend with both teams desperate for an upturn in fortunes. Juventus and Napoli meet in Turin with the clubs level on points in the table, with an unconvincing Juve side eighth, and Napoli a place above them on goal difference.

Both sides are already 11 points off the title pace and, even at this stage, can not afford another setback if fading Scudetto hopes are to remain alive.

Luciano Spalletti's Juventus are reeling from a 2-0 defeat at Genoa, as the Italian takes on the side he guided to title success in 2023. His position looks under threat, if results do not improve quickly.
