Fans up and down the country wait patiently to discover the outcome of Man City's appeal against the 114 finance-related charges against them.
Football Insider has revealed that should the guilty verdict stand, the current whispers are that Man City are expected to be hit with a single-season deduction of around 40 to 50 points.
If that is to be the case, it is being argued that a transfer ban on top of that would be too harsh despite the severity of the case against the Citizens.
Man City transfer ban would be too harsh
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has called for more relaxed punishment if a points deduction leads to relegation out of the Premier League.
"If City were to be relegated, I don't think you could have a scenario where a penalty is imposed that causes a wholesale of footballers, but they're not allowed to purchase any," he said.
"That would seem to me to be excessive. Because clearly, if you get relegated, you're going to need to reduce the wage bill.
"If you need to reduce the wage bill, you need to sell players. With a transfer ban, they wouldn't be able to bring any players in and be forced to use youth players.
"I guess it's all sort of theoretically possible. I just think it's pretty unlikely because I think they'll have to join these two things up."
