Revealed: Moyes ‘massively frustrated’ by Everton plans after source’s reveal

David Moyes' Everton future remains uncertain.Imago

[David Moyes](/manager/david-moyes) will voice his "massive frustration" at [Everton](/club/everton-fc)'s lack of spending if The Friedkin Group refuse to invest in the squad in January, **sources have told Football Insider.**

Moyes was hamstrung in his efforts to add quality and depth across the board to the Everton squad in the summer.

Only five Premier League clubs spent less than the reported £88million kitty that The Friedkin Group (TFG) put towards the Toffees' incomings.

They have the smallest first-team squad in the top flight by far, with just 19 outfielders, yet Moyes has guided the club to 11th place and the Carabao Cup quarter-finals as it stands.

As I revealed on the latest edition of **Football Insider's Transfer Insider** podcast, the Everton boss will become increasingly irate if TFG do not agree to bolster his squad in January.

The Toffees' owners, who are open to selling the club, are only interested in adding loan players and free transfers to their squad in the new year, according to **Football Insider's** sources.

Moyes' job remains in doubt right now, with incoming new owners at Everton potentially set to relieve him of his duties to hire their own boss.

TFG remain at the helm for now though, and the Scot believes he should be given more resources in the next window to help guide Everton to possible European qualification.

Speaking on the **Transfer Insider** podcast, I explained: "He was frustrated in the summer because he didn't get backing and they lost a number of key players without bringing replacements in, so he was hoping the January window would be the market for him to go out and strengthen the squad.

"If that's not the case and The Friedkin Group aren't willing to put money in, it's going to be a source of massive frustration to Moyes. Everything at Everton is a bit up in the air...it's a delicate situation."

TFG have put much more money, time and effort into Roma than they have Everton, with chairman and owner Dan Friedkin still yet to even visit Liverpool since their takeover in 2024.

Sources have exclusively revealed to **Football Insider** that some Everton fan groups are planning to protest their owners when Roma visit Man United for their Champions League clash next week.

The Red Devils host Roma at Old Trafford on Tuesday, 3 November, and some Toffees supporters could sneak in to make their feelings known towards TFG, with representatives potentially set to attend the match.
