The Tyler Dibling theory Tony Bellew never even thought of as Everton face Newcastle

He said on the Outside The Box Pod: “I think it is a moment for Dibling. Because if I’m giving Dibling a game, the young player who has a certain character and certain feel about the game. If I’m giving him anything, I’m giving him his time at home. I’m wanting to give him his time when the crowd’s on his side, rather than against him.
“That he’s being encouraged, rather than feeling he’s in the opposition’s cauldron. So actually if I’m doing anything I’m starting Dibling on Thursday. I really am.”
Bellew concurred, saying: “I never thought about it like that. That’s a proper player thing when you say that Os. I would never have thought of something like that.”
Osman added: “Go and express yourself young man, go get the ball and show us what you’re capable of.”
It’s a point that does make a lot of sense. Dibling himself said after his performance against Wolves at Hill Dickinson: “I definitely feel the support from fans, too. I hear them when I’m playing, especially when they’re close to me, and it’s good support.”
That just shows the impact Evertonians have on him.
Dibling comes across as a fairly reserved character, and perhaps those away games can be trickier to deal with. But it’s possible that increased exposure to home games could build his confidence to a level where he can really make an impact in away fixtures.
Hopefully he does get his chance tonight after his exploit against Wolves – to have someone like Brennan Johnson, who is out of form, starting instead would be frustrating.
Fleetwood in sight: Everton must turn Carabao Cup hopes into Newcastle momentum

If Everton players were not pumped up for tonight’s Carabao Cup game with Newcastle, they certainly should be now.
David Moyes tasted defeat for the second time this season on Saturday as his side fell to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
That latest 2-0 loss left a bit of a sour taste. Even though Arsenal were always likely to get a result, fans were disappointed that Everton didn’t do more to go for it and try and win the game.
But Everton have the chance to get back on track and it’s Newcastle United up next in the Carabao Cup. It has been interesting to watch fans’ perception of this game change in the last few weeks. Plenty were confident when the draw was made, then Everton suffered those back-to-back defeats.
But now, there should be motivation beyond belief.
Everton will face Fleetwood Town away in the quarter-finals if they beat Newcastle United this evening 👀
@sunderlandfan16 I just want us to stay up and its got to be the priority and if the owner s don't invest in our club they could lose 300 million if we get relegated
@hurbertmorl mate calm down, we 100% have the qualaties to win this, iget what you mean, but normally Moyes rotation side is Evertons good side.
@jameslloyd14.jl we won't win the cup.and with moyes in charge we will be in the bottom 6 by Christmas

Potential Fleetwood Town draw gives new significance to Everton’s game with Newcastle
It is obviously well documented that Everton have not won a trophy in a very long time – 31 years ago to be precise.
Everton now have the chance to reach the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup with a win over Newcastle, but the game took on new importance last night as the draw was made.
If Everton can get past Newcastle at Hill Dickinson Stadium, they will play against Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium.
Now, of course, Fleetwood made headlines for their incredible win on penalties against Arsenal, so they’ll need to be shown respect by whoever wins tonight’s game.
But Everton now have an absolutely massive opportunity. The prospect of playing against a League Two side in a domestic cup quarter-final doesn’t come around that often, and the Toffees need to be using that prospect as fuel tonight.

No doubt Newcastle will be doing the same, as they eye the trophy they won in 2025.
But for Everton this game tonight just took on completely new importance. And they should also take encouragement from looking at the rest of the field.
Liverpool and Manchester City are the only two ‘elite’ sides remaining, and then there are the likes of Bradford (who will try to shock City at the Etihad), Bournemouth (who will try to shock Liverpool at Anfield) Crystal Palace and Sunderland (who play one another).
The last time Everton made the semi-final of a domestic cup was in the FA Cup in 2016. Of course there is a lot to be done to get there, but the motivation should well and truly be there now.
