A fee in the region of £90million has been reported, with a potential deal to be agreed before the January transfer window.

Alex Scott and Lamina Camara compared on the ball

Scott and Camara would both be strong options for Chelsea - they are similar players at a similar age profile, but at dramatically different prices.

It should be taken into account that Camara is playing in arguably a weaker league, Ligue 1, yet there is still plenty to take from his numbers.

Last season in their league campaigns, the Monaco man averaged more chances created - 1.7 per 90 compared to 0.85 - but less shots - 1.22 to his 1.39.

Scott took more touches in the opposition box and completed slightly more successful dribbles per game - 0.91 to his opponent's 0.78.

Yet Camara dominates in passing. He hit the money with more accurate long balls per game, more crosses and created big chances more often.

Scott and Camara compared off the ball

While their on-the-ball ability is incredibly important, Chelsea will be paying close attention to the defensive numbers.

Simply put, Camara dominates. Per game in their respective league competitions, he made more tackles, more interceptions and more recoveries.

The 22-year-old won the ball in the final third more often - 1.02 to Scott's 0.41 - and won more free-kicks, being fouled more than twice a game.

Scott has a lot going for him, but there is far too much data that says Chelsea should not be spending £90m on him when Camara is available for just over half.
